Best mooncakes! They have a wide variety and all very fresh. We like the Lotus seed with double egg yolks. They also have red bean, green tea, sesame, green bean, lotus seed with coconut, durian, and nixed nuts! Small tiny ones are available too. If you purchase 4 of the same kind, they provide a nice tin. While they sell mooncakes year round, the wide variety is only available during autumn. There's usually a line but it moves quickly.

This is a belated review for a birthday cake that I custom ordered for my partner. I called to place the order for a mango mousse 8 inch cake, requesting a custom message of "Happy Birthday Nat". They asked me what colors I wanted for the frosting, so I picked blue and white.
The cake was ready for the time I had requested for pickup, there were a few people ahead of me at the bakery at the time (which is typical since they usually seem to receive a steady flow of business). It came with nice fresh fruit including strawberries and melons. I would say it's pretty good quality if you're looking for a traditional Chinese fruit cake. It was $28 which I paid in cash at the time, which was one of the cheapest I could find in the area after having shopped around at the other local Chinatown bakeries.

Go there. Wait in line. Yeah, there's a line, but patience is a virtue, and it will get you through the door. Check out the possibilities behind the glass. Order whatever catches your fancy. Cost will be reasonable in the best sense of the word. Some reviews call the stuff "bready" like that's a bad thing. You're at a bakery lol. Enjoy the carbs

We visited on a busy Saturday afternoon while the Chinatown Streetfest was taking place. It's cash only which luckily we knew in advance. The wait was out the door but only about was maybe 15 minutes. There are a handful of people behind the counter assisting with grabbing the items you select. We don't speak the language, but luckily we were able to communicate with hand signs and pointing. Most signs inside are also in English with prices which helped a lot. Everything we got was delicious (beef curry pastry, egg tarts, po tart, pork crisp bun, mushroom chicken buns (2) scallion and ham bun, mini pork buns (3) hotdog bread). The only minor downside eas a coul of the items were really bready like the pork buns (3 for $1.75) were mostly bread and not a lot of filling. Still a great deal for the fresh bread. Everything came out to $15.25.

Every time I am in Oakland, Napoleon is a required stop.  My latest craving from here is the wife cookie or loh por beng.  The cookie has layers of flakey pastry and the filling has chunks of melon which is what I am looking for.

All these years of coming here and I finally noticed that the tray for these was always empty in the afternoon.  This means it's fresh and a hot  item.

I'm very pleased with this pastry and suggest that folks give it a try.

Stopped by while visiting the area because I was in the mood for some pastries and they're just good to have in case you need a snack through out your visit to Oakland.

The establishment is cash only.
Buns were pretty good, would return if I was back in the area.

Visited on Monday afternoon.  Bought a custard bun ($1.75), Egg tart ($1.75), and 2 milk cake (cup cake)($1.50 ea).  Egg tart was still warm with flaky crust on outside.  Roll cakes looked delicious, but they were $12 a roll so passed.

Cash only.  Pretty good Chinatown bakery.

People working there are not overly friendly, but that's expected of Chinatown (ha ha).  I usually go to Chinatown for budget friendly food and not so much for service

To go only.

I will visit earlier next time for more choices.
